Age: 16
History: Wiki link available here.
Personality: Kevin's thoughts and actions are saturated in his own guilt and self-loathing. Despite playing the hero role alongside Ben and Gwen, he still sees himself as an irredeemable villain and a monster. For a brief but irrevocable time in his childhood, Kevin was a mutant psychopath, hellbent on murdering the boy he blamed for all his problems because at that time, he couldn't accept that the horror his life had become was no one's fault but his own. Now that he's older, more mature, and thinking with a clearer head, Kevin's snapped in the other direction. He can't let go of his own wrongdoings and blames himself for everything, even things that are out of his control.
Kevin blames himself and his powers for everything that went wrong in his life, and despises what he is. From childhood, his powers were nothing but a destructive force to be suppressed and hidden, and the cause of all his problems -- direct or indirect. Yet he also can't deny the fact that they're a part of him. They're second nature to him, and part of how he defines himself. Kevin's learned to use his powers for (mostly) good in the fight to protect Earth against the Highbreed invasion. Yet he's still ashamed of being half-alien and during his weakest moments, it's very clear that despite the good he's done, what he really wants is to be a normal human with no powers or alien heritage at all.
Though despite his hatred for his powers and species, he extends none of that hate toward the father he inherited them from. Kevin idolizes the hero his father was. Devin died when Kevin was only a toddler, so he has no memory of his father, only idealized stories of adventure and intergalactic crimefighting he's heard from his mother. More than anything, he wants to be a Plumber (the space cop kind, not the drain cleaning kind) like his father, and live the same heroic life Devin did. Yet having been a monster, and having spent his adolescence in prison and made a living for himself getting by on shady black market deals, Kevin feels he's too tainted as a criminal to ever deserve the kind of pedestal he places his father on.
That doesn't, however, stop Kevin from trying. After the death of Magister Labrid, the Plumber official who helped Ben, Gwen and Kevin get started on their quest to take down the Highbreed, Kevin swiped and pocketed the agent's badge. While he doesn't consider himself a Plumber, he still takes great pride in having and being able to use it as it allows him to pretend, for a little while, that he's the hero he always wanted to be. When the badge is revoked by Magister Gilhil, it's an all too painful reminder that the rest of the Universe sees Kevin as little more than a criminal, and as far as he's concerned that's all anyone will ever expect him to be.
There's a blurry line that Kevin's drawn between what he wants and what he feels he deserves, and at the top of his "don't deserve" list is Gwen Tennyson. He was smitten when he laid eyes on her for the first time in five years, but refuses to pursue or even publicly acknowledge his feelings for her. It's not unreasonable to assume he felt he didn't deserve her, seeing has he'd tried to kill her and her cousin multiple times when they were much younger, he's afraid of turning into a monster again and hurting her. Gwen's dedicated attempts to go out with him, however, have chipped away at the line he drew, and he's slowly starting to come around to the idea that maybe he is someone worth her affection and has begun to reciprocate.
Kevin masks his self-loathing with a shell of denial, vanity and overconfidence, with a heavy dose of humor, sarcasm and material possessions. Outwardly he's got an upbeat cynicism to him, playing the role of the deadpan snarker against Ben's earnest attempts at being a good team leader. While Kevin considers himself the "adult" of the group, he'll often be the one to respond to thing in the most childish ways. Having been dumped in the most secure prison in the Universe at the tender age of eleven, Kevin had to grow up a lot in very little time. He never quite got a childhood proper, and because of this he'll often make up for it with childish, immature behavior, mostly in the form of pranks and teasing, or acting out when he's upset.
One of Kevin's favorite things in the world, besides his car and his possessions, is money. He grew up in the intergalactic gutter, scrounging and scraping to get by, and every penny he has -- legal or not -- came from his own hard work and cunning. While thrifty and eager to make a quick buck wherever he can, Kevin isn't a penny pincher by any means. He's thrifty enough with his money that he's never short on cash and loves to buy himself nice things when he's feeling down. His biggest money sink is sleek alien technology. He has a whole stash of nifty trinkets like teleporters, high-tech weaponry, and scraps of rare materials. His favorite pastime is retrofitting the tech he finds and integrating it with his car, an emerald green classic Dodge Challenger.
Kevin's got an eye for quality material possessions, and in his work as an intergalactic con man and arms dealer, Kevin's learned to wheel, deal and barter for the best value on about anything. However, much of Kevin's savvy falls short when he's confronted with Earth culture; Having not grown up on his home planet, Kevin's exposure to Earth beyond the first eleven years of his life came primarily from television and pop culture. He watches a lot of reruns of sitcoms and B movies, and his attitude often reflects ideals found in these kinds of media.
Despite everything, Kevin has a very soft, sensitive nature once you take a jackhammer to his rough exterior. Though self-conscious about preserving his masculinity, he does have a very romantic side, and has a bit of a soft spot for pretty girls and cute things. Though he's convinced himself he'll never live up to his father's heroics, he'll go out of his way to protect Ben and Gwen and make sure they get to live the hero life he can't, and would readily sacrifice his own life, freedom, or sanity to ensure that the people who were willing to give him a second chance survive to keep helping more people.
Abilities/Powers: Kevin is half-Osmosian, and has all the powers that come with it. Kevin has the ability to absorb almost any kind of energy, matter, and special abilities, and has only recently learned to control this power.
Kevin can touch almost anything and absorb nearly any kind of energy -- electicity, heat, etc., -- and either use it as nourishment, or release it when he needs to. Though primarily an attack power, Kevin has even learned to use it as a crude form of technopathy. He can unlock electric doors, bum freebies from vending machines, start up cars, and a number of other simple commands. However, energy absorption can potentially make him crazy, irrational and more violent, so he's learned to avoid it completely.
The safest power Kevin can use is matter absorption. Kevin can touch anything -- metal, wood, plastic, diamond -- and absorb & copy the material to create an outer layer to match it. This becomes a quick instant armor for him if he touches the right stuff. When in this state, Kevin can also rearrange his shape a bit -- enough to create weapons like hammers or swords from the metal in his arms.
EXAMPLE
Kevin is also able to touch someone and copy any special abilities unique to their species... by being able to physically change to accommodate the power if necessary. For instance, temporarily growing wings, extra arms, altering the molecular makeup of his flesh, etc.
EXAMPLE 1
EXAMPLE 2
If he absorbs special abilities from multiple creatures, his body will reflect all of those species. These changes are generally temporary, but can become permanent if he loses control or absorbs too much.
Items: His wallet with a driver's license, credit card, and some cash. Also some change, a little pocket tool kit with a few small screwdrivers, and his car keys.
